At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, first responders were called to a two-story residence in the 6600 block of Karlson Court in Chillum, where there was "a home with excessive storage conditions and fire in the basement."

Crews were able to swiftly get the flames under control, and during a search of the home, they found several pets who were rescued, treated at the scene by fire crews, and returned to their owner.

One person was displaced, according to the Prince George's Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
